Udhaar khata: track customer credit without the notebook
TM POS keeps your udhaar khata inside the point-of-sale system. When a regular customer buys on credit, the cashier picks Udhaar as the payment and the bill goes into that customer's khata with a due date. You see who owes what, what is overdue and what was collected this month, and payments clear the oldest bills first.

How do I sell on udhaar at the counter?
Choose the customer, pick Udhaar as the payment and set the due date.
- Add a new customer from the checkout without leaving the sale
- Take an optional advance on the bill
- Set an udhaar limit per customer, and optionally stop sales that would go over it
What is a family khata?
A family khata lets several people, such as one household, share one account. New udhaar from any member goes on the family khata, and each member still has a personal statement.
How do payments and old dues work?
Take a payment from the customer's khata and TM POS applies it for you.
- Payments clear the oldest bills first
- Anything paid over the balance is kept as advance
- Add old dues from your paper register as an opening balance
- Print a statement, or tap WhatsApp to send the customer their balance
How do I know who is overdue?
The khata page shows total udhaar, the overdue amount and what was collected this month.
- Filter accounts by owing or overdue
- See every unpaid bill with its due date
- Get notifications when credit becomes overdue
Can I track what I owe suppliers too?
Yes. Each supplier has an account with its balance, payments spread over the oldest purchases, any advance, old balances and a statement.
| Paper register | TM POS khata | |
|---|---|---|
| Recording a credit sale | Written by hand after the sale | Saved with the bill at the counter |
| Who owes what | Add up each customer's pages | Balances listed with totals |
| Overdue balances | Check dates by hand | Overdue list and notifications |
| Part payments | Cross out and rewrite | Applied to the oldest bills first |
| Telling the customer | A phone call | Printed statement or WhatsApp message |
Which plan includes this?
Udhaar, the khata and supplier accounts are included in the Business and Enterprise plans.
Questions
Questions shop owners ask
Can I move my old udhaar register into TM POS?
Yes. Add each customer's old dues to their khata as an opening balance with a note. New credit sales are added on top.
Does TM POS send reminders automatically?
No. TM POS notifies you inside the app when credit becomes overdue. To remind a customer, open their khata and tap WhatsApp to send their balance, or print the statement.
What happens if a customer returns items from an udhaar sale?
The return lowers what the customer owes on that bill first.
Who can see the khata?
Only users whose role allows it. You decide which roles can see balances, take payments or add old dues.
